learning new tricks

leave a comment »

i have hooded eyes and oily skin and i love dark eye liners. as we inch closer and closer towards the most crazy humid days of the year, i am suffering like mad. my eye liners have the tendency of leaving an imprint. it’s so ugly and messy. during the day it’s hard to clean as well because you have to leave everything else intact. looks like those days are behind me now that i have been introduced to nars’ smudge proof eyeliner base. i was skeptical of it and i told nicole the sales representative that if it doesn’t work, i will never come back to nars.

thank god, it does and i so love it. just apply it before you put on any eye liner.

something else new that i started doing this week is to go for yoga at this yoga place – yoga village. there are yoga classes at the general gym that i go to but nowadays i have been working 11 – 12 hours a day and after work i don’t have much time. i need to do high impact exercises that would guarantee that i burn the most calories in an hour and obviously that would be running. also i have been doing yoga to help me alleviate muscle soreness but i haven’t had any great improvements at all. and so i thought of upping my game to learn under different teachers.

i love the teachers at yoga village. they don’t try and do too many poses in one hour and you hold the poses for a much longer time. they explain the reasons why you do the poses and what muscle groups you need to work on.

at the end of the day, i love trying out new things. it’s amazing how much you learn you by doing something you thought you knew differently.

you have the right to be radiant and fabulous

i have used so many products from benefit and my favorites are girl meets pearl, dandelion and brows a-go-go. benefit is one of those brands when they get it right, it’s oh- so-good but when they get it wrong, it’s also oh so wrong.

benefit is launching a new range of skin care to their existing line-up. you could always count on them when it comes to interesting names, concept products and amazing packaging. it’s called b right radiant skincare

i haven’t started but i have a feeling loads of girls would love it smells pretty damn good and i LOVE the packaging. the skincare products go on sale this month.there are 9 products in the collection. look out for it!

this face cream flies

i have been complaining to my friend- this fabulous make up artist that my skin is getting rather dry ( i supposed it is the result of my addiction to concealer)

she surprised me with this miracle face cream a month ago and i have just started using it. i love it so much. it’s a brand i have never even heard of before but it works miracles. it’s called the hokkaido mart q10 water cream. i love the texture so much, it’s like gliding water across the face. after a few minutes and when you touch your face, there is slight glycerine-ish feel.

best thing that i found out, when your skin dries out throughout the day, add a layer on top of your make -up and there you go; good as new…

now for the worrying bit, they have not started this cream in hong kong. boo boo. i did some research and looking at this website – i think i can still buy them online.

i think i have to start getting some girls together to do a groupon like buy. hahaha

mixing it well

with 4 comments

i absolutely hate mixing drinks because i am terrible at it. i always get it wrong. sometimes it’s too much juice, sometimes it’s too much alcohol. out of the 10 times i try mixing drinks, i’d say the chances of me getting it right is about 2 or 3.  but no worries, i have found the perfect solution in vnc cocktail.

you can buy them from all major supermarkets in hong kong like fusion, city super and sogo. i sampled a few different flavors but finally went along with the pomegranate cosmopolitan. it’s good to drink it on its own or add some other stuff. i added some sprite and that was GOOOOOD!!! before i know it, i was fast asleep on the couch.

i love vnc!! i think i am going to try the mojito next and i’ll pass on the banana daiquiri. alcoholic banana is just way too weird for my taste buds!

last minute christmas shopping

with 4 comments

i love getting cute little innovative gifts from two places. if you had no clue what to buy for someone you are not that close to this christmas – i suggest you not to go the whole nine yards stressing about it. just go to log on or the closest g.o.d.
all sorts of colorful/ hong kong influenced totes – perfect gifts for expat wives or friends who are always telling you to bring them back a piece of hong kong
can’t afford living up on the peak – it’s okie. buy some pillow covers and dream your way to owning a house up there. or if you fancy mongkok or tsim sha tsui. look they are on sale too!!!
i don’t know about you but it seems to me this year almost everyone i know talked about getting a new camera, bought a new camera. between my husband and i – we have a few cameras at home. i don’t like boring camera bags and i  found some really nice ones at log on. log on is an amazing shop, you can buy the cutest trinkets for anyone from kids to adults.

cute aren't they

sometimes camera bags can appear so bulky and out of place but i really like these from log on
